Surah al-Anbiya' (The Prophets ) 21 : 76

وَنُوحًا إِذْ نَادَىٰ مِن قَبْلُ فَٱسْتَجَبْنَا لَهُۥ فَنَجَّيْنَٰهُ وَأَهْلَهُۥ مِنَ ٱلْكَرْبِ ٱلْعَظِيمِ

And [mention] Noah, when he called [to Allāh] before [that time], so We responded to him and saved him and his family from the great affliction [i.e., the flood].

Explanatory Note

This is followed by a similarly short reference to Noah and his saviour. Again the reference here does not provide details. It is simply to confirm God’s response to Noah when he appealed to Him. Noah lived at an earlier time than Lot, hence the reference, long before that’. In Noah’s case as well, he and his household were saved with the exception of his wife. As for his people, they were destroyed by the flood, which is described here as ‘the great calamity’. It is described in detail in Sūrah 11, Hūd.

"Both the subject matter and the style of the Surah indicate that it was sent down in the third stage of the life of the Prophet at Makkah" [Ref: Mawdudi]
